Vivonne Bay
One of Australia's most beautiful beaches.

Vivonne Bay was voted one of Australia’s top beaches in an evaluation conducted by the University of Sydney. This was because of its clear water, cleanliness and privacy. Its long, sandy beach is ideal for picnics, sunbathing, fishing and surfing, making it great for a large variety of visitors.

The beach is also famed for its cray fishing and numerous boats leave and arrive at the town’s jetty with a fresh catch. There are even picnic and barbeque areas set up at the jetty that are available for public use. The harbour here is also one of the safest along Kangaroo Island’s South Coast.

Along the southwest coast is the Vivonne Bay Conservation Park; an 887 hectare nature reserve.

To the east of Vivonne Bay along the coast is the Seal Bay Conservation Park, which is home to Australia’s third largest sea lion colony.

Also in the vicinity is Little Sahara, which as the name suggests is a small desert.

It is home to the only sand dunes on the island and is a great place for hiking, quad biking and sand boarding.

It is even possible to hire a toboggan and sled down the dunes. Little Sahara is a fantastic place for the adventurist and tours can be booked right from Vivonne Bay.
